WARREN MANN: THE DARKROOM
Warren Mann: The Darkroom is a body of photographic work created for a short film centred around Warren Mann, a fictional reclusive photographer working in the 1960s.
For the film, I photographed the actor in character as Mann, exploring his growing obsession with seizures, his subjects and the loss of control. The images were then developed further into a physical artist’s sketchbook, layering photographs, handwritten notes, drawings and experimentation to create something that felt as though it had come directly from Warren’s own archive.
The finished book became part of the film itself, offering a physical insight into the character’s increasingly obsessive practice and blurring the line between photography, character study and production design.
