THE CITY IS NO PLACE FOR A BIRD
The City Is No Place for a Bird began with a moment on my first walk down Portobello Road after moving to London. A bird fell from the sky and landed at my feet.
It became a metaphor for being a young creative in the city. We come to London in search of freedom, to make things, meet people, find our place and become whoever we want to be. But the reality can be much harder.
The work explores that contradiction: the freedom of having wings against the weight of a city that can quickly bring you back down to earth. Sometimes you fly. Sometimes you get slapped out of the sky by a double-decker bus.
A story about ambition, vulnerability and trying to keep your wings in a city that doesn't always make it easy to fly.
